Homemade toaster strudels!
I grew up in the hype of toaster strudels! Childhood memories were definitely unlocked with these, and guess what? These taste exactly, if not better, than the original! Try them out, and make sure to tag @livingspunky on instagram if you do!
Homemade Toaster Strudels
Homemade puff pastry sheet
makes one sheet, enough for about 6 toaster strudels
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup, frozen butter, chopped into cubes
1/4 tsp unrefined salt
1/4 cup ice cold water
Tip- freeze a bowl before for about 10 minutes
What to do:
1.) Mix flour, and salt together in cold bowl.
2.) Add in butter cubes, and mixed in with a pastry cutter.
3.) Make a well and place water in middle, and mix.
4.) On a floured surface, and with a floured rolling pin roll out dough.
5.) Make about a 10 inch rectangle.
5.) Fold over 1/3 the dough to the middle and repeat other side.
6.) Roll dough out again, fold, repeat about 3 times.
7.) wrap folded dough in plastic wrap and keep in freezer at least 1 hour.
For strudels
What you need:
Puff pastry dough
Jelly of choice
What to do:
1.) Roll out dough into a rectangle.
2.) Divide dough into 16 smaller rectangles.
3.) Place 8 rectangles on lined baking sheet.
4.) Add a tablespoon of jelly in center, and top with another rectangle.
5.) Press dough together, then use a fork to make edges.
6.) Cool about 30 minutes.
7.) Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 15-20 minutes, broil the last few minutes to give the crunch.
Frosting:
1 cup powdered sugar
3 TBSP heavy cream
2 Tsp vanilla
Whisk together, and place on strudel when want to eat!
